With key hire, bitBiome is set to expand their platform capabilities with the establishment of a fermentation and scale-up team

Winkler, Ph.D., formerly of the U.S.-based LanzaTech, starting in November 2023. This initiative expands our capabilities, enabling us to cover not only enzyme discovery and modification but also downstream processes in the field of biotechnology, contributing to the realization of the bioeconomy.
Background: Since July 2022, bitBiome has been actively engaged in the biotechnology sector, with a focus on enzyme discovery and modification technology. We have received a wide range of inquiries and collaborations from various companies. However, the challenges of biomanufacturing, particularly in terms of large-scale production, have been a prominent aspect of the industry.
Establishment of the Fermentation and Scale-up Team: To address these challenges, we are proud to announce the establishment of the Fermentation and Scale-up Team, effective November 1, 2023. This dedicated team will enhance our capabilities, ranging from initiating small-scale fermentation processes in-house to forming partnerships with external Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) for commercial-scale projects.
Leadership: The Fermentation and Scale-up Team is under the leadership of Dr. Winker, who brings a wealth of experience in fermentation and production, having played a pivotal role in the success of LanzaTech, a prominent U.S. synthetic biology startup listed on NASDAQ, and being involved in numerous plant startups.
Dr. Winkler is committed to driving further innovation in biotechnology with his expertise and experiences, and he will be instrumental in advancing bitBiome towards new achievements.
