December 20th, 2023 -bitBiome, Inc. Japan has been awarded a grant under the second round of the “Deep Tech Startup Support Fund/Deep Tech Startup Support Project,” publicly solicited by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). The selected project is outlined as follows:

NEDO Fund/Project Name: Deep Tech Startup Support Fund/Deep Tech Startup Support Project bitBiome Selected Project Title: “Technological Enhancements and Business Validation Toward International Development of Microbial Gene Database”

Selected Project Overview: “This project aims to support entry into the primary market for biomanufacturing utilizing microbial genetic resources in the United States. It involves the improvement of our microbial single-cell genome sequencing technologies that enable efficient analysis of overseas environmental samples”.

Beginning with the 2021 Japan-US Innovation Awards, bitBiome has undertaken various marketing and business development activities to explore business opportunities in the U.S. market. Additionally, the company has made significant strides in research and development projects globally, forging collaborations with institutions such as the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Montreal, and The University of Texas at Austin. Furthering its commitment, in 2023, bitBiome established their U.S. subsidiary and formed a global commercial team, aligning with the company’s expansion efforts in the United States.

With the acceptance of this NEDO project, we aim to accelerate business expansion in the U.S. market and facilitate the global deployment of our core technology, bit-MAP®, the one and only commercially available microbial single-cell genome analysis platform.

“This project is an important step towards a future where our microbial analysis platform bitMAP® will be accessible worldwide. We hope that this innovative technology will dramatically accelerate research in academia and industry”, said Masahito Hosokawa, Ph.D., Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of bitBiome.

Moving forward, bitBiome remains dedicated to delivering its unique solutions in the field of bio-manufacturing, catering to both the Japanese and U.S. markets.
